Denver, CO — March 2026. Zappa Consulting today announced its formal launch as the first Zoho CRM implementation and workflow automation practice built exclusively for independent payroll service bureaus and professional employer organizations (PEOs).

Founded by a 30-year payroll industry veteran who built and operated his own payroll service bureau for 11 years before selling it, Zappa brings a combination of deep industry knowledge and Zoho platform expertise that is not available through general-purpose technology consultants.

The problem Zappa was built to solve

Most payroll bureaus operate with a significant gap between their core payroll processing platform and the business infrastructure around it — how they track prospects, manage client onboarding, monitor compliance deadlines, attribute referral revenue, and measure operational performance. That gap is typically filled with spreadsheets, email threads, and informal processes that don't scale and don't survive staff turnover.

Generic CRM tools have been available to bureaus for years, but adoption rates are low. The reason, according to Zappa's founder, is configuration: "A CRM that doesn't reflect PEPM pricing structures, compliance calendars, multi-contact client relationships, and the specific lifecycle of a payroll bureau client will get abandoned in three months. We build systems that bureaus actually use — because they're built around how payroll bureaus actually work."

What Zappa offers

Zappa's engagements follow the company's proprietary 4D methodology — Discover, Design, Develop, Deploy — with fixed scope and full deliverables at every stage. Engagements begin with a Discovery & Blueprint session that produces a complete Zoho architecture recommendation tailored to the bureau's specific operation, whether starting from scratch or building on an existing Zoho environment.
